50th Annual UNI Elementary Literacy Conference

Friday, April 13, 2018 - 12:00 am

UNI’s College of Education invites you to attend the 50th Annual Elementary Literacy Conference in the newly remodeled Schindler Education Center. The conference will feature two keynote speakers, Eric Litwin and John Schumacher.

Eric Litwin is a New York Times best-selling author of the popular Pete the Cat series as well as The Nuts and Groovy Joe.  Eric’s books have sold more than 8.5 million copies, been translated into 14 languages and have won 18 literacy awards including a Theodor Geisel Seuss Honor Award.

John Schumacher (AKA Mr. Schu) is a blogger, part-time lecturer at Rutgers University and Ambassador of School Libraries for Scholastic Book Fairs.  Library Journal named him “The Xtreme Librarian” for the high level of exertion – along with some gears and stunts – he uses to get kids reading, and Instructor Magazine named him a Cool Teacher for redefining what it means to be a teacher-librarian.

UNI faculty and students are invited to attend the Elementary Literacy Conference free of charge. To learn more about the conference or register, visit www.uni.edu/elc or check in at the registration desk in Schindler Education Center. To earn undergraduate or graduate credit please complete the online enrollment form at www.uni.edu/continuinged/enroll by April 6. No additional tuition is charged to full-time UNI students.
