Boxes and Walls

Thursday, March 29, 2018 - 5:00 pm

The purpose of this event is to promote awareness by educating students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding communities about diversity. Everyone is welcome! This event is created to tear down walls and break down boxes that hold stereotypes and stigmas. We hope to encourage students to seek out more information on social justice issues.

Each area creates a space where individuals that enter the space are given the opportunity to see life through a different perspective and face the issues this group encounters. As they leave the event, they will have hopefully walked out with a better understanding and knowledge about diversity and social justice issues.

We will also have a space for debriefing along with resources from the campus community to help discuss the variety of topics as well. Our topics for Boxes and Walls include: Race & Ethnicity, Ability, LGBT*, Eating Disorder & Body Image, Education, Socioeconomic Status, Immigration, Mental Health, Sexual Assault, and Religion.
