Cedar Bend Savanna Walk

Saturday, August 11, 2018 - 9:00 am
Join us for a walk at Cedar Bend Savanna hosted by the Cedar Prairie Group of the Sierra Club, the Iowa Prairie Network and Friends of the Tallgrass Prairie Center. This unique black/bur oak savanna is a relict of pre-settlement vegetation that has survived on sandy soils of the Cedar River Valley. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Thunder Ridge Mall parking lot and car pool/caravan to the Washington/Union Access near the site. For those who want to join the group at Washington/Union Access at 9:15 a.m., it is located east of the Cedar River on the south side of Cedar Wapsi Road. We will convene in the SE corner of the Access and hike ¼ mile to the savanna.
