RodCon is a mini-comic book convention with a welcoming environment where people with common interests come together to share their love of all things pop culture. This will be the ninth year for our event, and we hope this year will continue to be bigger and even better. The event is always free and open to the public and highlights guest speakers, artists, vendors, trivia competitions, youth and adult costume contests, prizes, giveaways, video gaming, live-action role-playing, youth crafts, and much more!  The RodCon strives to present diverse perspectives and offer opportunities for discussion and idea-sharing.

Today is the day!  It's time for an eclipse, and even if you can't make it to a location within the totality, you can participate!  Students, faculty, staff - please join UNI Earth & Environmental Science and STEM Support Services in an Eclipse Open House south of the Campanile and between Wright Hall and the Business Building.

View the eclipse through a specially filtered telescope, participate in solar themed activities and citizen science.  Free and open to all.  We'll even have some special give-a-ways!  Mark this celestial event with the rest of the UNI community by joining us any time between 12:30 and 3:30!

With a simple yet impactful premise, students can fill an R2R provided bag with donated clothing items for just $5 per bag; with all proceeds directly supporting Cedar Valley Angels, a notable local cause. The event allows and encourages you to fill multiple bags! This unique event promises something for everyone, while making a meaningful difference in our community. Don't miss out on this opportunity to shop with purpose and support a worthy cause all while keeping these items out of our landfill.

Garden of Memories Cemetery is by far the largest cemetery in our local community with more than 4,500 veterans interned there. It is an extensive undertaking to place flags on the grave of each Veteran for Memorial Day.

We are requesting the help of volunteers to place flags on the graves. This mission requires attention to detail, determination and quick adaptive skill sets to finish in a timely manner. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear appropriate footwear.

Please sign up by emailing chiquita.loveless@uni.edu or yloveless@blackhawkcounty.iowa.gov, or call 319-287-9463 to keep this noble tradition alive.

When:
Thursday, May 23
Two shifts available at 9 a.m. -  noon; and 4-7 p.m.

Where:
Garden of Memories, 3669 Logan Avenue, Waterloo, IA 50703.
(North of Waterloo on Highway 63)

We will be taking flags back out of the ground on Wednesday, May 29 throughout the day. We would like to encourage folks to help out with that process as well.
