A UNI Permanent Art Collection Exhibition co-curated by Dr. Elizabeth Sutton and Gallery Director Darrell Taylor. This presentation seeks to make visible some of the objects in the UNI Permanent Art Collection made by women artists and elevate contributions of women as makers. Note, the Gallery will be closed Mon., Jan. 15 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Free and open to the public.

An exhibition by Mary Griep, retired Associate Dean of Fine Arts at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN representing nearly two decades of work inspired by 11th and 12th century sacred architecture from around the world. Among the large-scale artworks on display are Notre Dame Cathedral of Chartres (France), the Hindu temple of Angkor Wat (Cambodia), the Mayan temple El Castillo (Mexico), and the artist’s newest work, the Baptistery of Saint John, in Florence (Italy). On Wed., Jan. 17 at 6:00 p.m., Griep will present a lecture about her work in Kamerick Art Building, room 111. An opening reception will follow.

The labyrinth is in the form of a circle with a meandering but purposeful path from the edge to the center. While walking the labyrinth, one may feel joy in slowing down the pace of life and find peace, insight, reflection, creativity, relaxation and wisdom. It can be made available for student organizations, events and meetings.

When tests, projects and papers are upon us, we always think we can give up sleep “for awhile.” Yet most of us live in a constant state of sleep deprivation, not realizing what a profound negative impact it has on our lives. Getting enough sleep is vital for our health and overall quality of life. Participants in this session will learn the importance of sleep and tips for good sleep habits.
