A UNI Permanent Art Collection Exhibition co-curated by Dr. Elizabeth Sutton and Gallery Director Darrell Taylor. This presentation seeks to make visible some of the objects in the UNI Permanent Art Collection made by women artists and elevate contributions of women as makers. Note, the Gallery will be closed Mon., Jan. 15 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Free and open to the public.

An exhibition by Mary Griep, retired Associate Dean of Fine Arts at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN representing nearly two decades of work inspired by 11th and 12th century sacred architecture from around the world. Among the large-scale artworks on display are Notre Dame Cathedral of Chartres (France), the Hindu temple of Angkor Wat (Cambodia), the Mayan temple El Castillo (Mexico), and the artist’s newest work, the Baptistery of Saint John, in Florence (Italy). On Wed., Jan. 17 at 6:00 p.m., Griep will present a lecture about her work in Kamerick Art Building, room 111. An opening reception will follow.

Live Like a Student Financial Literacy ClassesLive Like a Student Financial Literacy Classes
Monday, January 29, 2018 (All day) to Thursday, February 15, 2018 (All day)
Live Like a Student is a free, three-week financial literacy course (non-credit). Students learn the basics of budgeting, financial planning, financial aid, credit and identity protection during six 50-minute class sessions. Participants receive a free t-shirt and are entered into a $500 scholarship drawing. Registration is required.

Darwin Week is an annual lecture series hoste by UNI Freethinkers and Inquirers in which we bring thoughtful speakers who challenge dogma, promote science and reason and advocate for the well-being and common dignity of all humankind. This year our focus is on evolution and skepticism. We will have two to three faculty speakers each day discussing topics that they have developed and one keynote each night at 7 p.m.

Dylan Marron will present "Beta Snowflake Cuck: Being a Digital Creator in 2018". Marron is an IFP Gotham Award and Drama Desk-nominated writer, performer and video maker. He is the voice of Carlos on the hit podcast "Welcome to Nightvale," an alum of the New York Neo Futurists and the creator of "Every Single Word." Marron is a writer, correspondent and the most recognized face of Seriously.tv, where he created the viral smashes "Sitting in Bathrooms with Trans People, Shutting Down Bullsh*t," and his signature Unboxing series. In his podcast "Conversations with People Who Hate Me," he reminds his audience, "Remember, a person is on the other side of the screen." The lecture is free and open to the public.
