The "2019 Department of Art Faculty Exhibition" is a formal presentation of recent accomplishments by the faculty in the UNI Department of Art and includes painting, drawing, printmaking, graphic design, sculpture, ceramics, photography, mixed media, performance and installation art as well as art history scholarship. The opening reception begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 in the Kamerick Art Building’s south lobby. All events are free and open to the public.

Panther Initiative for Environmental Equity and Resilience (PIEER) will join a Waste Trac education team member for a tour of the landfill. Participants will learn about where five counties take their garbage for burial, the four biggest categories of waste, and ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. Ryota Matsuura, North American director for Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Education (BSME), will speak on the Hungarian pedagogy, which emphasizes problem solving, creativity and communication. He will dig into fun mathematical tasks that illustrate this pedagogy. He will also talk about a unique study abroad program intended for students who are interested in mathematics learning and teaching mathematics.

"James Hearst in Prose," a new exhibit at the Hearst Center for Arts, explores the non-fiction and fiction of James Hearst. The exhibition, which opens Nov. 7 and ends Dec. 29, has been prepared in conjunction with graduate English students in the Department of Languages and Literatures. The public is invited to a discussion and reception with the UNI student curators at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Hearst Center followed by an opening reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Artist, education activist Molloy lectureArtist, education activist Molloy lecture

Brooklyn-based artist, collaborator and education activist Traci Molloy will conduct a lecture. Molloy has presented her artwork in more than 175 national exhibitions, including solo shows in New York City, Chicago, Kansas City and Nashville. She has received fully funded residencies throughout the country, and project grants from the Puffin Foundation and Ohio Arts Council.
