"Like Any Other Kid" Film Screening and Discussion Panel

"Like Any Other Kid" Film Screening and Discussion Panel

Wednesday, January 22, 2020 - 9:00 am to Thursday, January 23, 2020 - 6:30 pm

"Like Any Other Kid” provides a rare glimpse into the inner-workings of one of the most promising developments in juvenile justice reform: the use of non-punitive, therapeutic programs to promote behavioral change and help youth re-enter their communities. Following the intimate relationships of youth and staff in three unique juvenile detention facilities across the US over a three year span, the film demonstrates how the program works. Stricken with violence, traumatic to youth and staff alike, our current juvenile justice system is failing to meet the needs of America’s children. “Like Any Other Kid” demonstrates just how much potential these youth really have… if we let them be just that: like any other kid.
