“The Earth is a House of Stories: Works from the Permanent Art Collection by Native Artists”

Other dates include October 15 – November 6 and December 2 – 15. “The Earth is a House of Stories: Works from the Permanent Art Collection by Native Artists” was co-curated by Angela Waseskuk and Gallery Director Darrell Taylor. This exhibition highlights objects from the Collection and the UNI Museum by historical and contemporary Native artists. Showcasing these works is part of a university-wide effort to adopt a university Land Stewardship Statement while continuing to build and honor respectful and nourishing partnerships with the Meskwaki Nation and Native people in Iowa.

Rainbow Reception is the annual welcome back celebration of queer and trans life at UNI. There will be a short program to introduce some of the key campus leaders. Organizations from on- and off-campus will be present to share resources. Staff and faculty will also be present to greet students and share their advice. Anyone who identifies within the LGBTQ+ community or wishes to celebrate with our community is welcome to attend. We especially encourage new students to attend to learn about resources and meet peers. Allies are also welcome to attend to welcome new and returning students.
