In the Mary Haskell-Hansen Room. A UNI Permanent Art Collection exhibition co-curated by Art History instructor Josh Hainy and Gallery Director Darrell Taylor featuring female-identifying artists, indigenous artists, and artists of color such as Dawoud Bey, Russell T. Gordon, Marion Greenwood, Lee Krasner, Doña Rosa (or Rosa Real Mateo de Nieto), Melanie Walker, Marguerite Wildenhain, and Betty Woodman. All events are free and open to the public. We encourage the wearing of masks and social-distancing while in the Gallery. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and by appointment.

Opening Reception: 5 p.m., Wed., Jan. 26, Kamerick Art Building (KAB) south lobby. The exhibition is a formal presentation of recent accomplishments by the faculty in the UNI Department of Art and includes painting, drawing, printmaking, graphic design, sculpture, photography, video, mixed media, and installation art as well as art history scholarship. All events are free and open to the public. We encourage the wearing of masks and social-distancing while in the Gallery. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and by appointment.

Poetic JusticePoetic Justice

Poetic Justice is a popular film in black culture that features powerful poems from famous black poets such as Maya Angelou. The purpose of this event is to allow students and members of the community from all walks of life to come into a safe space and share experiences through spoken word.

The purpose of the Kickoff is to surprise our student, staff, and facility counterparts with an attractive performance that is focused on increasing awareness of the culture, various challenges (e.g., stereotypes, racism, and oppression), and achievements the people of the black community have endured, overcome, and/or accomplished. Light refreshments will be served in the Center for Multicultural Education following the performance.
