Faculty Artist Recital: Randall Harlow, organ

Faculty Artist Recital: Randall Harlow, organ

Thursday, February 10, 2022 - 6:00 pm

Faculty artist Randall Harlow will present an organ recital titled "Meditations on the Anthropocene". The Earth has entered a new era, the Anthropocene. For the first time in 4.5 billion years, the actions of a single species have irrevocably transformed the planet's soil, water, air and climate, not locally, but globally, not over millions of years, but decades. This era demands a reckoning for humanity. Featuring works for organ with electronics, this concert situates acoustic and electronic sound, human and non-human agency as metaphor for the fraught dichotomy of humanity-verses-nature at the heart of the social and political dynamics that led us to this situation. This event is free and open to the public.
