Tallcorn Jazz Festival and Sinfonian Dimensions in Jazz Concerts

The Beta Nu Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the UNI School of Music invite you and your band to the 67th Annual Tallcorn Jazz Festival and 70th Sinfonian Dimensions in Jazz Concerts to be held on February 17 and 18 at 7:15 p.m., on the UNI campus. This year’s guest artist will be award-winning Chilean saxophonist Melissa Aldana. For more information, visit www.tallcornjazzfest.com. Concerts for this event are ticketed. In the Mary Haskell-Hansen Room. A UNI Permanent Art Collection exhibition co-curated by Art History instructor Josh Hainy and Gallery Director Darrell Taylor featuring female-identifying artists, indigenous artists, and artists of color such as Dawoud Bey, Russell T. Gordon, Marion Greenwood, Lee Krasner, Doña Rosa (or Rosa Real Mateo de Nieto), Melanie Walker, Marguerite Wildenhain, and Betty Woodman. All events are free and open to the public. We encourage the wearing of masks and social-distancing while in the Gallery. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and by appointment.

“2022 Department of Art Faculty Exhibition”

Opening Reception: 5 p.m., Wed., Jan. 26, Kamerick Art Building (KAB) south lobby. The exhibition is a formal presentation of recent accomplishments by the faculty in the UNI Department of Art and includes painting, drawing, printmaking, graphic design, sculpture, photography, video, mixed media, and installation art as well as art history scholarship. All events are free and open to the public. We encourage the wearing of masks and social-distancing while in the Gallery. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and by appointment.

For the 16th year, the UNI African American Read-In is part of Natinal African American Read-In activities planned nationwide during Black History Month. This year -- again a virtual event -- first graders from the Cedar Valley and other districts will join in for live readings by national authors, a puppet show, special appearance by TK and TC, and taped readings and university student-led prseentations. Guest author Jan Spivey Gilbchrist will do a live reading for a special afternoon session for other school districts.
