"The Iseminger Collection"

An opening reception hosted by the Friends of the UNI Permanent Art Collection & Gallery (PAC&G) will take place Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Courtyard between the Communication Arts Center and the Strayer-Wood Theatre Building. Kappa Sigma will provide valet parking. In addition, a walking tour will be offered on Wednesday, Aug. 31 from 1 – 2 p.m., beginning in the Kamerick Art Building South Lobby and concluding in the Curris Business Building. The UNI College of Business Administration will host a reception there. The Iseminger Collection is named for UNI alumna Lois E. Iseminger who in 2011 donated over 160 works of art collected for decades in and around Chicago where she makes her home. All events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Mon. through Fri. and also by appointment. Please note, the Gallery will be closed Monday, Sept. 5 for Labor Day.

Curated by Gallery Director Darrell Taylor, this UNI Permanent Art Collection exhibitions features works by Salvador Dali, Thaddeus Erdahl, George Hurrell, Ruth Kao, Darrell Roberts, Dieter Roth, and Conny Walthur. The exhibition will also run the following dates:  October 10 – November 9 and December 1 – 16.

Guest Recital: Stiletto Brass

Visiting ensemble Stiletto Brass will present a recital as part of the Meryl Norton Hearst Visiting Artist Series. Stiletto Brass Quintet, formed in 2010, has gained exposure as a leading ensemble with performances that the audience greeted with rousing ovations with Doc Severinsen and the Heartland Festival Orchestra, at the International Women's Brass Conference, the International Trumpet Guild Conference, The National Trumpet Competition, the Great American Brass Band Festival and concerts in New York, New Hampshire, Illinois, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, and Oregon. Stiletto features five highly accomplished women from the U.S. with careers spanning the fields of orchestral, wind band, and brass chamber music: Amy Gilreath and Susan Rider, trumpets; guest horn artist Stacie Mickens; Natalie Mannix, trombone; and Velvet Brown, tuba. This event is free and open to the public.

Observatory Show

Observatory Show

Thursday, September 15, 2022 - 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm

View the evening sky at the UNI Observatory.   Constellations and other interesting objects in the night sky will be pointed out, and objects may also be viewed through the UNI telescope.  Meet before 9 PM outside of MSH 137, near the polar bear.  The event starts promptly and there is no admission for late arrivals.  Electronic devices, such as cameras, smart phones, etc, must not be used during the show.  No food, or drink is allowed.  Masks are encouraged, particularly while inside of the observatory.  This event is free and open to the public.
