"The Iseminger Collection""The Iseminger Collection"

An opening reception hosted by the Friends of the UNI Permanent Art Collection & Gallery (PAC&G) will take place Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Courtyard between the Communication Arts Center and the Strayer-Wood Theatre Building. Kappa Sigma will provide valet parking. In addition, a walking tour will be offered on Wednesday, Aug. 31 from 1 – 2 p.m., beginning in the Kamerick Art Building South Lobby and concluding in the Curris Business Building. The UNI College of Business Administration will host a reception there. The Iseminger Collection is named for UNI alumna Lois E. Iseminger who in 2011 donated over 160 works of art collected for decades in and around Chicago where she makes her home. All events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Mon. through Fri. and also by appointment. Please note, the Gallery will be closed Monday, Sept. 5 for Labor Day.

Curated by Gallery Director Darrell Taylor, this UNI Permanent Art Collection exhibitions features works by Salvador Dali, Thaddeus Erdahl, George Hurrell, Ruth Kao, Darrell Roberts, Dieter Roth, and Conny Walthur. The exhibition will also run the following dates: October 10 – November 9 and December 1 – 16.

Presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham is one of America’s most prominent public intellectuals. With a depth of knowledge about politics, history, religion, and current affairs, Meacham has the unique ability to bring historical context to the issues and events impacting our daily lives. During his lecture titled “Finding Hope Through the Lessons of Yesterday,” Meacham walks audiences through moments that have seemed intractable to offer lessons for leaders in how to endure and prevail when everything appears hopeless. Admission to the lecture is free. Tickets are required and seating is general admission. Individual tickets are available by phone at 319-273-4849 or at the GBPAC and McLeod Center ticket offices. Group tickets (classes, for example) are available by email at tickets@uni.edu. The GBPAC and McLeod Center ticket office are open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Green Dot Overview for StudentsGreen Dot Overview for Students

Green Dot is an NISG-sponsored bystander intervention program focused on gender violence prevention. The goal of Green Dot is to decrease the likelihood of sexual assault, stalking, dating and domestic abuse. The Green Dot Student Overview training session is a presentation that introduces basic elements of Green Dot while using skill building activities to keep participants engaged. The basic elements of the presentation are to provide a new/different framework of bystander intervention, to create campus-wide interest and participation, and begin the process of changing behaviors. This Green Dot Overview is open to any students.
