"Through the Lens of a Panther" Project

Submit a photo from campus for “Through the Lens of a Panther,” Green Dot’s new project. Staff, faculty and students are encouraged to submit a photo that they have taken on campus and answer, “What does community look like to you?” Please submit 2-3 sentences describing the photo’s meaning to conclude your submission. Green Dot will be collecting photos now through Sunday, April 30. For additional information or submission, emails can be directed to greendot@uni.edu.

Join Connecting Alumni to Students(CATS) for a free networking dinner with Panther alum Victoria Crouse '07 at Whiskey Road (402 Main St). Victoria is a 2007 alumni who majored in Health Promotion, and later went on to earn a Masters in Public Administration with special emphasis in Emergency Management from George Mason University. She works for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), overseeing a broad disaster response and recovery portfolio including tornadoes, wildfires, floods, hurricanes and the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Registration is required. Seats are limited!

Farkas is the author of the recent collection, The Great Indoorsman (University of Nebraska Press). His other books include The Big Red Herring, Sunsphere and Self-Titled Debut. Farkas is an Assistant Professor of English at Washburn University.

The Final Thursday Reading Series's 22nd season continues at the Hearst Center for the Arts. Join us in person for an open mic at 7:00 p.m. and featured readings starting at 7:30 p.m. Can't attend in person? Featured readings will be simulcast on Zoom. Register on Zoom once for any/all of the featured readings (open mic is in-person only).

The Final Thursday Reading Series is a collaboration of Final Thursday Press, the Hearst Center for the Arts, the University of Northern Iowa Department of Languages & Literatures and the University of Northern Iowa College of Humanities, Arts & Sciences. Coffee is provided by Sidecar Coffee Roasters and cream is provided by Hansen's Farm Fresh Dairy.

Observatory Show

Observatory Show

Thursday, April 27, 2023 - 9:00 pm to 9:45 pm

View the evening sky at the UNI Observatory.   Constellations and other interesting objects in the night sky will be pointed out, and objects may also be viewed through the UNI telescope.  Meet before 9 PM outside of MSH 137, near the polar bear.  The event starts promptly and there is no admission for late arrivals.  Electronic devices, such as cameras, smart phones, etc, must not be used during the show.  No food, or drink is allowed.  This event is free and open to the public.
