Research Presentation: UNI Students Reflect on the Ethics and Reality of Using AI
We could have asked AI to write this, but according to our research, 50% of UNI students in a first-year writing class would absolutely consider that cheating. We surveyed students in 25 sections of first-year writing courses with a 63% response rate. This presentation will cover the differences between student perception of AI use and their self-reported use, student understanding of the ethics of using generative and assistive AI and how students use AI in the writing process. In addition to data, the research includes students’ statements and thoughts about AI use in college and career. Come with your questions, concerns, thoughts, and experiences regarding AI.
