The UNI New Horizons Band began in 1999 with 17 members and has grown to its current size of 80+ members. This band welcomes anyone age 50 and older and the most senior members of our group are 90+ years old. ​Band members in the UNI New Horizons Band come from Grundy Center, Waverly, Janesville, Floyd, Readlyn, Sumner, Fredericksburg, Tripoli, Dysart, Hudson, Jesup, Denver, Charles City, Maynard, Oelwein, Dike, New Hampton, Shell Rock, Waterloo and Cedar Falls.

Throughout the year, the UNI New Horizons Band performs several concerts, including performances at the Catherine Cassidy Gallagher Great Hall of the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, and in many Cedar Valley communities throughout the summer. Members enjoy a social hour after each rehearsal and have the option of participating in group lessons/sectionals that are led by UNI music students.

Tuition Information

• Semester Membership Fee (Fall or Spring): $97.00
• Summer Membership Fee: $57.00

Full tuition is expected for each semester. A member may leave the group by the end of the second week, and receive a full refund. Members who leave during the third or fourth week will receive a partial refund. No refunds are available after the fourth week of the semester.

• Rehearsals: Tuesday and Thursday at 9-10am (Davis Hall, Gallagher Bluedorn)
