Hour of Code

Friday, November 5, 2021 - 10:30 am to 12:30 pm

Venture forth to the Schindler Education Center lobby for an introduction to exciting and interactive activities that relate to computational thinking and computer science.  Try out your visual/thinking skills using the tangram app on an Osmos, program a sensing and coding robot and discover how Code-a-pillars and Bee-Bots can be useful tools in early elementary teaching and learning. The event will also feature "unplugged activities" that translate to any classroom, allowing for an introduction to computer science concepts without the need for computers or other technology.  The Iowa DOE has adopted Computer Science Teacher Association (CSTA) Standards, and this is one event where future teachers and others can explore exciting technologies and consider how they might be used to enrich the teaching and learning process.  Refreshments will be served!
