Cedar Bend Savanna WalkCedar Bend Savanna Walk

Join us for a walk at Cedar Bend Savanna hosted by the Cedar Prairie Group of the Sierra Club, the Iowa Prairie Network and Friends of the Tallgrass Prairie Center. This unique black/bur oak savanna is a relict of pre-settlement vegetation that has survived on sandy soils of the Cedar River Valley. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Thunder Ridge Mall parking lot and car pool/caravan to the Washington/Union Access near the site. For those who want to join the group at Washington/Union Access at 9:15 a.m., it is located east of the Cedar River on the south side of Cedar Wapsi Road. We will convene in the SE corner of the Access and hike ¼ mile to the savanna.

The exhibition addresses themes of perception and authenticity to explore the paradoxical relationship between seeing and belief. With items curated from the collection of the UNI Museum. Brazilian euphonium soloist and composer, Fernando Deddos is a founding member of DUOPRIMO, a percussion and euphonium duo, with Danilo Koch. DUOPRIMO was the grand prize winner at the Furnas National Chamber Music Competition in 2009. Deddos is currently the principal euphonium of the ParanaBrass Orchestra. Observatory ShowObservatory Show
