Lunch & Learn - High Performance Computing System at UNI
Join Iowa NSF EPSCoR for the next Chemurgy 2.0 Lunch and Learn on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. (CT), featuring Brandon Schmidt from the University of Northern Iowa giving a talk on High Performance Computing System at UNI. Learn about this core UNI contribution to the Iowa NSF Project.
This workshop assumes basic computing or programming knowledge, but no prior experience with high-performance computing (HPC) systems. Participants will gain an overview of HPC and learn how it differs from local computing environments. The session will also guide attendees through the steps of accessing and utilizing HPC resources, including account setup, system connection, environment interaction, and job submission. Key topics will include the benefits of HPC, parallel processing, and practical workflows for getting started.
What is Iowa NSF EPSCoR? ISU, UI, UNI, Central and Dordt Colleges have partnered with the National Science Foundation to grow Iowa's biomanufacturing infrastructure and capacity through cutting edge research, scholarship, and education and workforce development all around the theme of solving human needs using things that grow. The Lunch & Learn sessions are free and open to all and provide updates on specific activities and opportunities. In this session participants will learn about EPSCoRs investments in HPC at UNI and how the HPC integrates into other EPSCoR activities.
The Zoom link will be made available the week of the event, see link.
