Prairie Rendezvous

Saturday, September 14, 2019 - 10:30 am

UNI will host a Prairie Rendezvous at which time the campus tall grass prairie will be dedicated and renamed the Daryl Smith Prairie in recognition of his retirement and more than 50 years of dedication to prairie education and preservation. This will be a culmination of Prairie Heritage Week and prairie enthusiasts, former students and friends are invited. The program will include various speakers, including UNI president Mark Nook and Smith's former students. Lunch will follow the program. After lunch, guests are invited to the prairie site for refreshments and tours of the prairie, planted by Smith and students in 1973. If you cannot attend, share a Daryl Smith story by emailing Theresa Spradling, theresa.spradling@uni.edu.
