Prairie Walk at Wolter's Prairie Preserve

Saturday, May 18, 2019 - 8:45 am

Wolter's Prairie Preserve is owned and managed by Butler County Conservation Board.  It is a wet mesic prairie with a wide variety of native plants.  The spring prairie flora is very diverse and beautiful. We should see shooting star, yellow stargrass, wild strawberry, prairie violet, and purple oxalis, to name a few, in bloom.  Daryl Smith and Bruce Stiles will discuss tallgrass prairie and prairie plant identification. We would love to have you join us for this outing on a beautiful spring day.

We will meet at 8:45 am at the Thunder Ridge Mall parking lot in Cedar Falls and car pool/caravan to the Preserve.  For those who wish to join the group at the prairie at 9:20-9:30 am, the prairie preserve is located 1.5 miles southwest of Clarksville, just north of 195th Street at 19155 Quail Avenue.

This event is hosted by the Cedar Prairie Group of the Sierra Club, the Iowa Prairie Network and Friends of the Tallgrass Prairie Center.
