For the 17th year, the UNI African American Read-In is part of National African American Read-In activities planned nationwide during Black History Month. This virtual event is planned for Thursday, February 16, 2023, with first graders locally and from across the state.

Welcome to the 12th Annual African American Children and Families Conference which carries the theme: Education, Justice and Equality: A Shared Responsibility.  This year's virtual event once again promises to provide high quality and culturally relevant  presentations on topics that appeal to faculty, staff, professional colleagues and community friends and neighbors, locally and far beyond the Cedar Valley.

Join the Office of International Engagement on a trip to Kansas City. The group will be heading to Kansas City to see the sights and spend a weekend away! Included in the trip will be shopping, delicious food, an overnight stay in a hotel, the Kansas City Ballet, Ice Skating, indoor markets and more!

Teams from 16 universities from around the world have been chosen from the qualifying round held in November 2022 to compete in the annual championship.  The competition is hosted in different locations each year.  The Univeristy of Northern Iowa is priviledged to host this year's event.

UNI Opera students will perform the world premiere of a newly commissioned opera The Beehive by Jorge Sosa and Melisa Tien. This new work is loosely based on Gogol's "The Overcoat" and is heavily laced with pop and musical theatre influences. The central character, Abby, struggles to find her identity within a hairstyling community of small-town America which is currently facing a crisis. Joy, laughter, and tears abound in this contemporary dark comedy. This event is free and open to the public.
