The University of Northern Iowa (UNI)’s Dining Services and the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) are proud to present the return of the second annual UNI Dining Takeover in collaboration with local food entrepreneurs. From Monday, March 25 to Wednesday, April 3, 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., five local catering companies will showcase signature dishes on their menu to students, faculty, and all community members at the Rialto Dining Center. 

  • Monday, March 25: Daniel and Mom’s Kitchen by Teta Toe
    Featured menu item: International chu rice and gravy.

  • Tuesday, March 26: Dominique’s Seafood by Dominique Wallican
    Featured menu item: Good old-fashioned Southern crab boil.

  • Friday, March 29: Salt N Pepper by the Perkins Family
    Featured menu item: Seared catfish, coleslaw, and spaghetti with meat sauce.

  • Tuesday, April 2: Ms Kim’s Plates by Kim Caldwell
    Featured menu item: Baked potatoes with grilled chicken.

  • Wednesday, April 3: Tu Wayy Catering by Jadell Moné Boyd

          Featured menu item: Loaded fries with chicken strips and mac & cheese.

RodCon is a mini-comic book convention with a welcoming environment where people with common interests come together to share their love of all things pop culture. This will be the ninth year for our event, and we hope this year will continue to be bigger and even better. The event is always free and open to the public and highlights guest speakers, artists, vendors, trivia competitions, youth and adult costume contests, prizes, giveaways, video gaming, live-action role-playing, youth crafts, and much more!  The RodCon strives to present diverse perspectives and offer opportunities for discussion and idea-sharing.

UNI English Professor Emerita Anne Myles returns to UNI to read from her award-winning poetry collection, Late Epistle.

In Late Epistle, the winner of the 2022 Sappho's Prize in Poetry from Headmistress Books, Anne Myles offers what Natasha Saje calls "a rare first book, one that radiates all the pleasures of poetry—sound, form, and figurative language, among others—but also one that evidences a life transformed by discovery.

Anne Myles is also the author of What Woman That Was: Poems for Mary Dyer (Final Thursday Press, 2022). Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and have been nominated for multiple Pushcart awards.
