UNI STEM Career Conference

Monday, February 23, 2015 - 8:30 am to 2:30 pm

STEM Career Conferences are day long events for middle and high school counselors and STEM teachers. The day includes opportunities to hear from local business professionals about regional current and future STEM careers, tours of innovative labs and departments where Iowa's young adults are prepared for the workforce, networking with community college and university faculty about articulation from middle school through graduate school and more. Tours of the Tallgrass Prairie Center and the Technology Center will be offered. Breakout sessions include learning about the ACT STEM and CCR scores (ideal for counselors) and STEM education in the agriculture classroom (ideal for STEM educators). The conference is free through the generous support of the Iowa Farm Bureau, UNI and our community college hosts. This is the first of five STEM Career Conferences to be offered across Iowa during the spring semester.

UNI faculty and staff can participate by staffing a table for their department during the mini-career fair from 11:30 a.m.-noon. Contact Beth Thompson, beth.thompson@uni.edu, to register a booth for your department.
