Admission: Admission to the live, virtual event is FREE
The University of Northern Iowa’s Textiles and Apparel Program will hold the first ever, completely virtual, UNI Fashion Week: Catwalk 29. The six-day event is to be held the week of Monday, April 26 through Saturday, May 1, 2021. UNI Fashion Week will contain five shows, featuring garments made from traditional materials, non-traditional materials and upcycled garments. Additionally, garments produced by local high school students. Each show is unique in its execution and won’t want to be missed.
This year’s events will be produced by student executive producer Cassie Hendrix, under the supervision of alumnas Belle DuChene, a seasoned fashion show producer and in tandem with the department’s Fashion Promotion class.

The bands will set up and play on the concrete east of West Gym, with socially-distanced audience markings on the grass field between West Gym and the Campanile. This event brings out the literary sides of, respectively, a UNI scientist and a UNI mathematician. Thomas Hockey is a professor of Astronomy and the co-author of Jupiter, a nonfiction book on planetary studies with a distinctively creative twist. He has written seven previous books including Galileo’s Planet and How We See the Sky. Doug Shaw is a professor of Mathematics who has won many awards for his teaching. He’s written about mathematics, applied improvisation, mathematics teaching, and his secret rabbis. He is the author of Social Nonsense—Creative Diversions for Two or More Players – Anytime, Anywhere.
