UNI Science Education Update Conference

The University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Science Education Update Conference for current and future teachers is an one-day conference on Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. that focuses on issues and topics related to Grades K-12 science and STEM featuring breakout and workshop sessions as well as exhibits and a keynote presentation.  Participants will be provided the instructional resources and strategies that can be implemented in the classrooms.  The Update Conference is funded by a foundation grant provided by Dr. Robert & Brenda Good. 

 A Saturday workshop on April 13 follows introducing participants to High School OpenSciEd curricula. The workshop is funded by a foundation grant provided by the Robert Yager Family.

An Admitted Student Day is an optional visit day, only for admitted students, that's focused on next steps. It's a great option for students who are still deciding where they want to attend or students who have chosen UNI and want another look at campus and assistance with what's next. This is not a required orientation event.

The Cultural Connections track allows students to learn more about the resources unique to our campus that help students of color find success and build community.

Jump Start and Resources for Underrepresented students

Held the week before classes, our Jump Start program is open to all students but is designed to best support students from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds as well as AVID and TRIO participants. Come learn all about it, and other campus resources, while connecting with previous Jump Start students.

We Sing! High School Treble Chorus Festival

Friday, April 12, 2024 - 9:00 am

Faculty artist and conductor John Wiles will coordinate this interactive event, featuring treble-voiced chorus ensembles and members from Iowa high schools, as well as UNI’s own Cecilians. The event will culminate in an evening concert at 6:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public, but the festival does require registration.
